On Tuesday, four representatives from the school travelled to the Helix in DCU to attend the Green Schools flag presentation ceremony. There were over sixty schools represented at the event and they were all there to collect their Green Flag. We were there to collect our third green flag for the theme of water. We have worked really hard for the last two years to earn the flag and we are looking forward to raising it outside the school and having a huge party to celebrate!
After lots and lots of practising we had our fantastic Music Generation performance today. The concert started with a performance from the school orchestra which featured solos from George and Áine. They were all brilliant and it’s hard to believe they are only playing together a few months!
Then first and second class took to the stage to show off all they have been learning this year. Lots of parents came in to watch the show and were very impressed by what they heard.
Craig Lynch form the Louth team visited the school this week with the division 4 trophy. Louth won the trophy a few weeks ago and are now promoted to division 3. All the children were very excited to get to hold the trophy. We may even have a few future All Stars in our midst.
Second class have been really busy getting ready for their First Communion and Ms. Corrigan’s mother Rose came in today to make rosary beads with all the children. They loved hearing the story behind the penal rosary beads and learning how to use them. Fr. Daly will bless them before First Communion on Saturday and the children will be able to keep them as a memento of the day.
A week later than planned, we finally got to Salterstown beach to do our big spring clean! We had to postpone because of the bad weather but we got a lovely warm day, even it it was a little breezy! We set off to gather litter in two groups with all our clean-up equipment which was provided by An Taisce and the council. We were amazed by the amount of rubbish on our beautiful beach and wondered how anybody could spoil our landscape like that. After all that hard work we had a well deserved lunch break by the pier. We even had some time to play around and all the beach has to offer.
We took part in lots of great activities for Tech Week 2016. We learned about how technology has changed over the years, we brought animations to life using the iPads and we designed our own apps and presented them to the class.
