First and second class have had a busy few weeks back at school. We’ve settled well in to our new routine and have already been hard at work on many different projects!

Today First and Second Class Orchestra performed for a large audience of parents. First and Second Class have been learning Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass with Mary-Jane, Yvonne and Helen from Music Generation. The put on a fabulous performance. We would like to thank Mary-Jane, Yvonne and Helen for all their hard work and dedication. Thank you to Gemma Murray, Louth co-ordinator for Music Generation, for organising our Strings Programme. Thank you to all the parents that were able to attend our recital. I’m sure that you will agree the Recital was absolutely brilliant! Well done Children.

It’s here! The school has made another wonderful achievement after receiving an Active School Flag. This is a very highly sought after award and everybody at St. Finian’s is very proud. An Active assessor visited St. Finian’s on Tuesday morning and all the active reps along with Mr.Shevlin showed him all our active efforts to date through, pictures, displays, videos, PowerPoints and active demonstrations at break time. He was amazed at all the activities we had in place at school. A big thank you to all the people who helped out with the initiative, from the hardworking pupils, teachers, coaches and of course the parents who helped greatly with our ‘WOW’, ‘Be Active’ and ‘Get Fit in February’ programmes. We will formally present and raise the flag at our Graduation Mass day on Wednesday 24th of June!
Super job everybody!
“Super Active St. Finian’s!”
Yesterday we went on our school tour to Tayto park. It was an absolutely fantastic day. We had so much fun. First we went for a walk around to see all the different animals. Some of our favourites were the peacocks, the meercats and the leopards. Then we had a tour of the factory and learned about how Tayto crisps are made. After our delicious lunch in the restaurant we got to enjoy some of the rides and activities. We went on the climbing wall, the shot tower and the air jumpers to name but a few. Needless to say we were all exhausted after such an exciting day!
