Our class novel Joey’s Big Day is set in Australia so we decided to do some further research and learn a little more about the land down under. We have been working in groups on projects about all things Australian. Topics include famous Australian people, the outback, Australian animals, famous landmarks and the Aboriginal people. Some of our class are even going to interview people they know who are living in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. Others brought in didgeridoos and boomerangs that came all the way from Australia.

We know how important it is to be active and that we need to keep our bodies fit and healthy, so we really enjoy getting up and moving every day. These pictures show us learning folk dances in P.E., practicing our yoga with Cora and enjoying DEAD time which means drop everything and dance! 

To celebrate World Book Day we dressed up as our favourite characters from a book. We had everyone from Alice in Wonderland to Oliver Twist and Horrid Henry to Mulan! We also had some DEAR time so we could enjoy these wonderful books.

This is continuing to be a busy year for us all in first and second class. February is proving to another month of learning and fun!

What a fantastic week it’s been!

We were lucky enough to have lots of grandparents come in to visit us yesterday for Grandparents’ Day. They told us all about what school was like when they were children.  We asked lots of questions about games and the kind of things they liked to play when they were little.  After our chatting, we treated our visitors to a performance of a song and a poem that we had been practicing for them. It really was a great day!
