We were inspired by the beautiful autumn colours to create some of our own autumn leaves. Firstly we coloured our leaves a lovely yellow colour. Then made our own stamps using cardboard and sticky draught excluder tape. Then we put paint on our stamps and printed designs on our leaves. We layered up lots of colours to create perfect autumn leaves.

For our Geography lesson this week we worked in groups to explore materials found around the school environment. We concentrated on natural materials and we explored and recorded their properties and characteristics.  It was a great way to explore the local natural environment.

Last week the whole school went to the beach for the morning. It is a great place to learn. We searched for and identified lots of shells, we built stone cairns, we made 2D shapes, me built sand structures and we learned about the beach habitat. It was brilliant fun!

As the weather improves, more and more children have told us that they would like to cycle to school. As safety is so important, we wanted to teach the children how to cycle safely.  So Sorcha, our Green School Travel officer spent the day with us teaching us all about cycling and bike safety.  She made sure all the children’s helmets were fitted properly and she showed them how to use their brakes correctly. Sorcha also set up  drills to help the children with their balance, cycle with one hand off, keep a good distance from one another, cycle two abreast and use the correct hand signalling. It was a really useful and informative workshop. Thanks Sorcha!

This term, the pupils in Mr. Shevlin’s class will be helping us with our léitheoireacht Gaeilge. We are buddying up to practice our reading and to learn from the older children. It’s a really nice way to use the Gaeilge we have been learning.

We got the chance to explore the world of K’NEX in our maths this week. They are brilliant for building lots of different types of structures. We looked at building 3D shapes in this lesson. Here we are at work!
