by Sixth Class
Today Mrs Quinn returned to school for her send off. There was cake and presents for Mrs Quinn. We also sang a send off song to her. The parents association presented a bouquet of flowers. We were all sad to see Mrs. Quinn go.

This week is national “bike week”. To celebrate this, members from the Cú Chulainn Cycling Club visited our school to take a number of pupils( 3rd-6th) for a session on using a bike in a safe and sensible way. The instructors from the club were fantastic and the pupils really enjoyed it. They learned all about bike care, rules of the road, traffic signals and safety measures.
LMFM also gave us a surprise visit and ran a piece for the radio, interviewing some of the pupils, instructors and teachers.
The instructors were very pleased to see so many pupils cycling to school. It is a great feature of our Active School’s programme. Also this Friday, as part of National Bike Week, the pupils of 5th and 6th class will cycle to St. Colmcille’s Tullydonnell, for a Basketball tournament.
It’s here! The school has made another wonderful achievement after receiving an Active School Flag. This is a very highly sought after award and everybody at St. Finian’s is very proud. An Active assessor visited St. Finian’s on Tuesday morning and all the active reps along with Mr.Shevlin showed him all our active efforts to date through, pictures, displays, videos, PowerPoints and active demonstrations at break time. He was amazed at all the activities we had in place at school. A big thank you to all the people who helped out with the initiative, from the hardworking pupils, teachers, coaches and of course the parents who helped greatly with our ‘WOW’, ‘Be Active’ and ‘Get Fit in February’ programmes. We will formally present and raise the flag at our Graduation Mass day on Wednesday 24th of June!
Super job everybody!
“Super Active St. Finian’s!”
