To celebrate today being world book day, children had the chance to dress up as their favourite character from a book. They were also invited to bring in their favourite book for a special DEAR time. Each child had the opportunity to talk about their  book or character in front of the class. It is a great way to encourage children to discuss the stories and characters in a range of books.

In our science lessons we have been leaning about sound. We went on a sound hunt to explore and identify sounds in the environment. Then we thought about musical instruments that we could make ourselves. We designed our instruments and then made them in class using everyday items. We had great fun playing them together in our class orchestra!  

On Wednesday we celebrated Grandparents’ Day. Lots of grandparents came in to share stories of their school days with the children. They told us all about the games they played when they were young and all the boys and girls in first and second class had lots of questions to ask them. We also created profiles of our grandparents and presented the finished pieces to any grandparents that came in to visit. We finished off by performing a poem and a song for the visitors. The grandparents then enjoyed some tea and cakes in the hall, which was organised by fifth and sixth class.

Throughout this second term we will get hurling and camogie training from Lisa every Wednesday. This is to help learn new skills and improve the ones we have already learned. We do lots of group games and activities which really helps us to work together as a team.
