The Coastguard Rescue helicopter came to visit St. Finian’s today. The children and STAFF were very excited and we had many visitors from the locality also. We had a very informative talk about the helicopter and the rescue services. Then we all got a chance to look around the helicopter. Many thanks to Rosie Grimes who was instrumental in organising the visit and co-ordinated tea and refreshments for all the coastguard staff. It was a truly wonderful event.
Today our musicians working with Music Generation and our Traditional Music Tutors put on a magnificent concert in the school hall for parents and grandparents. We had 45 musicians performing which is a wonderful achievement for our school. Nearly 50% of the pupils in the school were on stage, and they were absolutely brilliant! You can see some photographs from the concert below.
Some of our children took part in the Music Generation Gig Rig Performance at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Drogheda in August. Please follow the link to view the performance and spot our superstars!!!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Rosey Grimes who organised a wonderful Halloween draw. Rosey has not got the final total yet but she has raised in excess of €1000. Well done!! The staff and pupils would like to say a huge thank you to Rosie and everyone that sold tickets for the draw. We would also like to thank David and his dad John for sponsoring the turkey as First prize. We would like to thank Eoin and his father Brian for sponsoring the ham.
