Well done to our girls soccer team who competed today in the FAI Louth schools finals for small schools. The girls played three highly competitive games and finished third overall. They qualified for the finals a number of weeks ago. In the first game,they beat Walshestown B 5-1. In the second game, they lost out to Walshestown A 4-2. In their final game they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Ardaghy.
Well done to all the girls for making it to the finals.
Best of luck to the duo “The Unpredictables” Ellie and Cillian in the School Stars final tonight in the TLT. Also best of luck to Áine who is also competing in the final with some friends.It is an amazing achievement to reach the final. There are still a few tickets reserved for Ellie and Cillian’s act available from The Sound Shop(Next door to the the TLT). Please call the shop beforehand to ensure these tickets have not been sold. The show gets underway at 7pm. We are calling on all friends and family to give our acts the best support tonight. Well done to all who supported them in the Semi finals and who have their tickets for tonight!
Fifth and sixth class were learning all about pulleys in Science. We learned that pulleys are machines that allow something to be hoisted up by pulling down. We looked at how pulleys were used in history and how they are still being used today. We then made our own simple pulley in class. We had great fun testing it out.
St. Finian’s would like to wish our sixth class pupils, Ellie and Cillian the best of luck in their School Stars Semi-Final next Tuesday, 5th of March. The Semi Final gets underway in the TLT in Drogheda at 7.30pm sharp. They have done themselves and the school proud so far in the competition, getting through round 1 and the quarter final! As the audience votes contribute to score of the act, we are calling on all pupils, parents and friends to try cheer on the duo next Tuesday evening and help them reach the final !

Pupils from Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Class attended the Credit Union Quiz in Kilsaran on Monday 4th February.
We had six teams in toatl taking part in the competition, three in the Junior section and three in the Senior section.
Our teams performed extremely well and we are very proud of each and everyone of our pupils. In the Senior section we came First and Second! In the Junior section one of our teams emerged as winners also.
The winning teams in each section now proceed to the County Finals. Thank you to Mr Shevlin for preparing the teams so well.
