Well done to our girls soccer team who competed today in the FAI Louth schools finals for small schools. The girls played three highly competitive games and finished third overall. They qualified for the finals a number of weeks ago. In the first game, they beat Walshestown B 5-1. In the second game, they lost out to Walshestown A 4-2. In their final game they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Ardaghy.
Well done to all the girls for making it to the finals.

Everyone was excited walking into school today to discover a wooden totem pole in our flowerbed. The “Celtic Animal Totem Pole” was created and chainsaw carved by Derek Bailey. Everybody was amazed at the the detail on the pole.
Representation: The pole has five animals carved onto it: salmon, fox, butterfly, rabbit and owl. All the animals are local and native animals to Ireland. Each animal represents the different traits within us that. We also may identify with one animal more than the others. Each of the five could represent our own ‘ Spiritual Totem Animal’
It is a great new addition to our school ground. Thanks very much Derek from everybody at St. Finian’s N.S.
