We would like to say a huge thank you to Rosey Grimes who organised a wonderful Halloween draw.  Rosey has not got the final total yet but she has raised in excess of €1000.  Well done!!  The staff and pupils would like to say a huge thank you to Rosie and everyone that sold tickets for the draw. We would also like to thank David and his dad John for sponsoring the turkey as First prize.  We would like to thank Eoin and his father Brian for sponsoring the ham.  We would also like to say thank you to Mrs Tuite for sponsoring the pumpkins as prizes.

Halloween Fancy dress

We had a wonderful fancy dress parade in school today Thursday 25th, October.  Congratulations to all the boys and girls who made such a big effort.  Of course we can not forget all the parents and grandparents who were busy helping create such wonderful costumes!

St. Finian's Girls' team put in a heroic performance in John Markey Park, Annagassan today. They beat a very strong Collon team by a single point on a scorline of 4-0 to 3-2. There were great performances all over the field. From last stitch tackles to last minute goals. We couldn't be more proud of the performance the girls gave. They will now play in the final of the Corn Setanta against Muchgrange N.S. on Saturday the 20th of October at 10.30am in the O'Connells GAA grounds. All Support would be much appreciated. Well done Girls!!!

We were inspired by the beautiful autumn colours to create some of our own autumn leaves. Firstly we coloured our leaves a lovely yellow colour. Then made our own stamps using cardboard and sticky draught excluder tape. Then we put paint on our stamps and printed designs on our leaves. We layered up lots of colours to create perfect autumn leaves.

The PA are holding our Halloween Raffle again this year as it was such a success last year. You should have received your envelope by now, with full details.

Lines cost €2, with all proceeds going to our school.

The prizes are:
1st Prize: Locally Reared Turkey in time for Christmas
2nd Prize: Ham Voucher
3rd Prize: A pair of Antique Earrings

The draw will take place on the 25th October in the school, please make sure to return your envelope in time so that you don't miss out on a chance to win!

For our Geography lesson this week we worked in groups to explore materials found around the school environment. We concentrated on natural materials and we explored and recorded their properties and characteristics.  It was a great way to explore the local natural environment.
