As today was World Book Day, we celebrated by dressing up as characters from our favourite books. We also had some extra DEAR time and a special online story time.

For the last few weeks we’ve had Stephen from Louth GAA coming in to teach us the skills of Gaelic football. We have lots of fun doing the drills and playing a game at the end.
This term we are reading a novel about a joey kangaroo so we have been learning lots about Australia. Today we found out about boomerangs. We learned what they are used for, and we looked at how they are decorated with Aboriginal art. Using this as our stimulus we created our own boomerangs. Unfortunately they don’t come back as well as the real ones!

As part of our Active Schools Programme and the TV show “Operation Transformation”, all the boys and girls from St. Finian’s took part in 10 minutes of exercises at 10 o’clock on Friday the 10th of February. This fun initiative was carried out by most primary schools in Ireland. The aim was to have every boy and girl in the country being active at the same time. All the teachers took part too. It was great to see everybody exercising and having fun! Well done everybody!
We had great fun playing our new maths game in groups on Friday. It teaches us about tens and units and renaming. We had two winners at the end which meant we had two royals in the class!
