In art this week, we’ve been busy designing and constructing different structures which are all made out of junk! We gathered up different junk, like boxes, bottles, cartons, and lids, which otherwise would have ended up in the rubbish bin, and turned them into works of art. It was fantastic to use our imaginations to create these masterpieces, which included robots, dog kennels, castles and nests.

This week third and fourth class took a close look at the effect of air pressure. We used bowls of hot and cold water to make the air in a plastic bottle expand and contract. When we put the bottle into the cold water air pressure crushed it out of shape. We got the bottle back in shape again by putting it in the hot water. Here we are at work………

We had a great time exploring the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ through play!
We designed buildings in the architect’s office and made lists of the materials we would need. We built buildings out of boxes on the construction site. We played with the pig and wolf puppets in the small world area. We made pig masks and acted out the story in the drama corner. And we made ‘Wanted’ posters for the big bad wolf in the Garda Station. Check out our photos!
Just a quick reminder to return your sponsorship cards for Sunday’s Spring Walk to the school by Thursday 19th March.
